Background: In 2016, Asia initiative won the Happy cities challenge for the new city of Amaravati. In 2018, APCRDA wanted to launch a pilot project of the winning proposal. StudioPOD partnered with Asia Initiative to execute the pilot project in Amaravati.

The Vision of the project was to use Social Capital Credits (SoCCs) as a community-led development program that incentivizes, and rewards acts of a collective good.

About the Site: Uddandarayunipalem Village falls within the Amravati City Boundary, to the east of the capital complex.
The project’s SoCCs program objectives were used to develop Social Infrastructure Improvements and placemaking projects which included the upgradation of Anganwadi, upgradation of school, avenue plantation, village square development and park, and playground development. Plans were created to develop a plaza at Anganwadi which included increasing greenery, creating a play area, statue upgradation and retrofitting the existing infrastructure. In addition to that, efforts have been made for avenue tree planting along the west and the south streets of the Anganwadi plaza.
